Occupying a now much admired building designed by Ron Thom and completed in 1963, Massey College was a gift from the Massey family and the Massey Foundation and consists of an interdisciplinary community comprising 130 junior fellows ( 60 of whom are resident), senior fellows, and a chief administrative officer (styled the [[Master of Massey College|master]] in keeping with the Massey Oxbridge model). In addition, the college includes the office of [[Massey College Visitors|Visitor]], the incumbent of which acts as College ombudsman and fills various ceremonial and constitutional roles. 

Five houses of residence each with its own staircase, the "master's lodge", common room, library, and "porter's lodge" are arranged to form a compact quadrangle. Larry Richards has pronounced the main dining room, named Ondaatje Hall, "one of the greatest rooms in the university". The complex occupies a constricted site on the northwest corner of Hoskin Avenue and Devonshire Place.
