Christopher Charles Love (1911–1998) was born in England in 1911, and received an MA from the University of Cambridge in 1933. He emigrated to Canada that year, to teach Classics and be a housemaster at Bishop’s College School in Lennoxville, Quebec. During World War II Dr. Love served in the Royal Canadian Navy, and following the war he studied at the University of Toronto, receiving his PhD in English in 1950. His teaching career at Victoria University began in 1949, and continued until 1977, when he became Professor Emeritus of English. Throughout his years of active teaching and beyond, Dr. Love was a prominent and popular member of the Victoria University community.
