Langton, a librarian, who used the individual publications of Ph.D. dissertations for exchange purposes with other university librarians across the world, what was known as University Studies began to be published in a series which by 1906 involved History and Economics, Psychology, Biology, Physiology. Anatomy, Physics, Chemistry, and Philology.
