The formation of Knox's College emerged from the disruption of the Church of Scotland and the separation of the Free Church in 1844. It was a literary and theological department until the change in the constitution of the University in 1849.

Incorporated 22 July 1858

Became a college of the Canadian Presbyterian Church in 1861
