Gilson, Etienne
(1884-1978)
French Thomist philosopher and historian of philosophy.
Principal founder of Institute of Medieval Studies (1929) - later (1939) Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies and served as Director of Studies; remained at the UofT until 1968.
Member of the Pontifical Academy of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Rome.
