Marlene Cummins was an award-winning librarian in the Department of Astronomy (now the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics) from 1984 to 2004. Astronomy is a discipline which relies heavily on information, and Marlene brought the Astronomy library (the largest in the country) into the electronic age. She was very active in the international astronomy library community, and published several papers, especially for a regular series of conferences on Library and Information Services in Astronomy. In 1999, she received the Academic Librarianship Award from the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA).
