Born in Toronto; draduated from UofT Faculty of Medicine in 1944. Postgraduate study (internal medicine) at University of Minnesota. In 19511, appointed to the staff of Toronto General Hospital: the first Jewish physician appointed to a full-time position in the UofT Department of Medicine.

1964: Chief of Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital (until 1977)
