Born in Toronto; graduated from UofT Faculty of Medicine in 1944. Postgraduate study (internal medicine) at University of Minnesota. In 1951, appointed to the staff of Toronto General Hospital: the first Jewish physician appointed to a full-time position in the UofT Department of Medicine.

1964: Chief of Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital (until 1977)

Barnet Berris Chair of Cancer Research, Weizmann Institute, Israel

Barnet Berris Lectureship in Medicine (Mount Sinai Hospital)
